The Members Area has several new items this month, including the sad announcement of the passing of Graham Pechey. Graham edited our annual Journal, and was an active and committed member of our Committee, and will be sadly missed.
You can also download the new issue of Exchanges, our Society newsletter, and there is a new request for assistance from an academic in the USA.
But perhaps most exciting are the details of The Waste Land City Walk, a professionally-guided walk around the City of London sites and churches mentioned in The Waste Land. A Society event for Members only, tickets at a specially reduced rate are on sale now, via the Members Area.
In Events itself, you will find details of a group exhibition in South London next weekend inspired by The Waste Land; and booking for a Four Quartets event at this year’s Kings Lynn Festival, with reading by the actress Juliet Stephenson, and a discussion of the poetry with our own patron, The Rt Revd Dr Rowan Williams.
Meanwhile our News page remains headed by Volume 6 of Eliot’s Letters (1932-33). Reviews of this volume, which centres on the breakdown of his marriage to Vivienne, are slow in appearing, but links are being updated as and when they are published. There is also news of the paperback publication of Robert Crawford’s Young Eliot; of the appointment of a new Dean at Little Gidding; and the sale of a remarkable First Edition of The Waste Land, inscribed by Eliot to the doctor who ran the private Lausanne clinic where Eliot was treated in 1921.
